What exactly is a CSA?

Community-supported agriculture (CSA) is a food production and distribution system that directly connects farmers and consumers. Simply put, members buy "shares" of a farm's harvest in advance and then receive a portion of the crops as they're harvested.

Throughout our inaugural 2019 growing season, the team at Royal Hills Farm will be building community partnerships with other local farmers so we can begin to offer our members additional organic and sustainably farmed food products. We'll be updating our members throughout the season about any new products being offered including free-range eggs, local wild honey, grass-fed meat, poultry, flowers, and more.

Throughout the months when we aren’t in our growing season, we look forward to providing a range of homemade jams, pickles and other treats.

Why Join our CSA?

  1. Organic, freshly harvested vegetables and fruit
  2. Locally grown produce
  3. Best tasting because they’re picked when fully ripened
  4. Hang with farmers, horticulture and agriculture interns
  5. Visit with us and our pups on pick-up day
  6. Great recipes to enjoy and share with friends
  7. Learn about permaculture and sustainable farming methods
  8. Enjoy special farm events available only to members

What does a CSA membership cost?

Members have a choice of a Petite Share (Great for 1-2 people)- $350 plus tax which averages to $17.50 per week, and a Grande Share (3-5 people) – $650 which averages out to $32.00 per week.

Our weekly share contents will alter based on the time of harvest. (Mother Nature has a lot to do with this).

Here’s a sample of a projected harvest over the 2019 season

Is there Risk in a CSA Membership?

Mother Nature has a major part of a successful growing season.  We will prepare our fertile ground, plant and nurture our vegetables and fruit seeds, provide water and the proper nutrients, and thwart off pests.  We will rise early in the mornings to check our fields and plants.  We will do all possible from our end to produce healthy, nutrient packed produce.

That said, there is a small amount of risk in a CSA membership: we can not control the amount of sunshine, temperatures, water, floods, winds, fire, possible droughts and some other complications with some crops and the forecasted share supply may have to be altered on short notice.

Our farm is run from the proceeds of our CSA and many of our costs are laid out prior to the actual growing season.  We are unable to provide any refunds.
